Why Shropshire is the Best Place to Live
Shropshire has received a steady rise in residents over the past five years, and following the national lockdown earlier in the year, thousands of people who previously lived in cities have decided to escape to the country. It is not hard to see why Shropshire is a huge contender as a great escape for the city dwellers.
Below are a few reasons why we believe Shropshire is a great place to live.
Shropshire is officially named as one of the happiest places to live in the UK (Office for National Statistics 2019). This point explains itself… who doesn’t want to be happy? This can be seen to be down to the sense of community, lower population density than most parts of the UK, and the low crime rate.
Virgin Trains run a direct service between Shrewsbury and London Euston, with a commute time of two hours thirty minutes. Within around an hour in the car, you can be in Chester or Birmingham, or even the coast in one hour 40 minutes.
Shropshire offers a great shopping scene, boasting 22 market towns. These are filled with boutiques, antique and craft shops, tea rooms, traditional barbers and other independent businesses. For larger retailers, Telford, is one of the fastest growing towns in the UK, which offers some of the best.
Shropshire Hills Area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’, covers almost a quarter of Shropshire. This means that wherever you are in Shropshire, you will be surrounded by a beautiful environment of stunning countryside.
Many towns seem frozen in time. From stone cottages to traditional pubs serving cask ales and local produce. Ludlow in particular has retained its old-world charm from medieval walkways, award winning food festivals and historical landmarks.
This is a very exciting time to be in Shropshire. For any property details, please contact one of our offices.
