RICS Building Conservation Accreditation Scheme (BCAS)
A key member at a local commercial property specialist has successfully achieved an accreditation currently held by only a handful of professionals across the UK.
Stephen Morris, Senior Building Surveyor at Shropshire-based Nock Deighton, has obtained full accreditation to the RICS Building Conservation Accreditation Scheme (BCAS), a qualification which enables him to report and advise on all aspects of building conservation, including Grade I Listed buildings.
Introduced in 1992 by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Building Conservation Accreditation Scheme (BCAS) is a register of individuals with the relevant experience and knowledge in the field of preservation of historic buildings, and is intended to promote good practice and standards across the industry.
Stephen, who joined the firm in 2011, has over 30 years’ experience in surveying, with this accreditation the latest in a long line of prestigious qualifications. He is a Member of the RICS, the Chartered Institute of Building, the Institute of Historical Building Conservation, and the Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association, which enables him to report and advise on churches and ecclesiastical properties.
Stephen Morris said: “I am thoroughly delighted to have secured this accreditation and would like to thank Nock Deighton for their support throughout the rigorous assessment process. Shropshire is home to so many Grade I Listed properties, so this expertise will stand us in good stead to help and advise such property owners across the county.”
David Perrin, Nock Deighton’s Director of Professional Services, said: “We’d like to offer our congratulations to Stephen on achieving such a prestigious industry accolade, which is attained by only the most highly-trained and experienced professionals. We are pleased to have been able to support him in gaining the accreditation and appreciate the significant amount of his own time he has put into qualifying.
“Stephen’s success comes on the back of a hugely positive period for our professional services department, which has recorded our best figures in more than five years, following a significant rise in mortgage valuation and surveying work.”
