Ten Reasons to Visit Bridgnorth and its Surrounding Countryside

The Nock Deighton Head Office is located in the historic market town of Bridgnorth, proud owner of the 2016 title of Great British High Street winner. We have created a list in no particular order, of Ten Reasons to visit Bridgnorth and its surrounding Shropshire countryside. If you are looking to move to the area or have recently relocated, we hope this informs you of the best places to visit. 

1. Apley Farm Shop

Apley Farm Shop is set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside with views of The Wrekin and Shropshire Hills, the shop includes a Butchery, Delicatessen, Cafe & Playbarn, Fine Foods & daily essentials.  Explore their Website to discover their family friendly events and purchase tickets. 2. Bridgnorth Rugby Club 

The Rugby Club is a Rugby Union club based in Bridgnorth’s low town.  The Club has various different team from the juniors to the 1st Team. The Club has many loyal local sponsors and prides itself on being at the heart of the Bridgnorth Community. Alongside the Rugby club there are other other fantastic sporting facilities in Bridgnorth incuding the Football Club, Tennis Club and Cricket Club, aswell as having a beautiful Golf course. 

 

3. Cliff Railway

The Cliff Railway in Bridgnorth is the oldest, and steepest in England.  It was designed to transport people from High Town and Low Town, avoiding the steep Cartway which leaves many out of breath! 4. Bridgnorth Castle and Grounds

Bridgnorth Castle is in the centre of Bridgnorth’s High Town and is surrounded by beautiful gardens always kept well maintained by the local council. The garden features elements of the town’s history and is a beautiful place for a picnic or walk. 5. Peepo

If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant in Bridgnorth, Peepo is the answer.  Their Menu contains delicious, traditional Italian dishes ranging from pizza to pasta and have also introduced a much loved Slimming World Menu.  Above Peepo is their cocktail bar The Spirit Room, here you can discover their huge range of both classic and contemporary cocktails.  

 

 

6. Cinema

Bridgnorth’s family friendly Cinema is located on Whitburn Street in Bridgnorth, with it's own car park, making it easily accessible, and wide range of drinks, snacks and confectionary.  The Reel Majestic Cinema in Bridgnorth showcases the latest films in three large screening rooms. 7. Severn Valley Railway

Bridgnorth Severn Valley Railway is a popular starting point for visitors. The station building is largely the original structure, dating back to the opening of the train service in 1862, although there have been many alternations over the years to keep it well maintained and accessible. The locomotive works are also situated at the Bridgnorth station with viewing of the locomotive yard possible from the station footbridge.   The station boasts a refreshments area, gift shop, baby changing facilities and disabled access, making it the ideal family day out.  Visit their Website to discover upcoming events and find out more information.

 

 

8. Theatre on the Steps

9. The Kings Head

The Kings Head Bridgnorth is housed in a beautiful Grade II listed 16th century former Coaching Inn. Their extensive Menu is full of fresh local meat and produce all prepared daily by the talented chefs. The restaurant has wheelchair access and baby changing facilities making it perfect for family lunch or dinner. The famous blackboard featuring The King Head’s specials is updated regularly and contains dishes suitable for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.  The staff are always on hand to provide the best service and experience possible. 10. Urban Angel

Urban Angel is situated in Bridgnorth’s busy and award winning high street. Originally a shoe and accessories shop, the store has expanded into high quality, on trend clothing items and even now has a sister store in nearby Wombourne.
